Laughter is the Best Medicine
Dr. Sandweiss reviews many healing effects of laughter and humor. He provides background and research on the physiology of laughter. Participants are treated to a unique conflation of standup comedy and evidence-based medicine as it pertains to pain management.

This 0.5-hour CME activity is designed for all clinicians who treat chronic pain.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
1. Discuss the similarities and differences between visual humor and language-based humor.
2. Discuss theories of the role and function of humor in humans.
3. Discuss the effects of humor on stress and natural killer cells.
Jay Sandweiss, DO, C-NMM/OMM, FAAMA, has maintained a wellness-oriented osteopathic medical practice since 1989. He is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Association in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine. He is also board certified in medical acupuncture by the American Board of Medical Acupuncture. Dr. Sandweiss has also been teaching health-related courses to medical doctors, osteopathic physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, registered nurses, and other health professionals since 1979. He has taught nationally and internationally for the American Back Society and the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.
