Evidenced-based Approach to Osteoarthritis Management
The program focuses on the evidenced based approach to osteoarthritis management discussing, topical therapy, weight loss, exercise, bracing and whether opioids should be used at all. It also evaluates the evidence for intra-articular injections and medications to address pain catastrophizing. Finally Dr. Achar reviews the data for surgical procedures.

Suraj A. Achar, MD, FAAFP, is a professor of family medicine and public health at the University of California, San Diego, and practices family medicine and sports medicine at UCSD and Rady Children’s Hospital. He is the associate director of primary care sports medicine at UCSD and his specialty includes musculoskeletal ultrasound. He is a team physician for the San Diego Padres, San Diego Sockers, UCSD athletics, and the Olympic training center in San Diego. This summer, he competed with the United States Medical Soccer Team in the World Medical Football Championship in Austria.
